Trust understands confidentiality to mean that no information regarding
a client shall be given directly or indirectly to a third party which
is external to the staff of Harbour Trust without the clients prior expressed
permission to disclose such information. The Harbour Trust recognises all clients should be able to come to us in confidence and that no other person should ever know that they have used our services. We recognise that information may indirectly be given out through staff discussing cases. All staff should ensure that no discussions relating to an individual client of the Harbour Trust takes place outside of our premises. The management committee will not receive details of individual clients and their case, excepting when the client applies for a hardship fund grant or makes a complaint. The client's name shall not be given to any member of the management committee, just their reasons for requiring a hardship grant or the nature of their complaint. The Harbour Trust recognises that clients need to feel that they are using our services in confidential manner. We will ensure that all clients are given a confidential interview space whenever possible. The Harbour Trust will not confirm the users presence in their centre or the use of the centre without obtaining the users consent. We treat disclosure of HIV status as a very important issue and will discuss cases where a disclosure has to be made. We will take every possible step to carefully look after the information you provide to us, particularly your name and address which will not be used for any purpose other than the one you gave us that information for, to contact you if we need to from time to time, particularly relating to services or other items that you have expressed an interest in. |
